Dr. Deng is an internationally recognized scientist in the research
fields of bone genetics and deleterious genomic mutation. Since
graduation in 1995, he has produced more than 90 original papers,
book chapters, and reviews in research fields of molecular genetics,
human genetics, population and quantitative genetics, genetic epidemiology,
bioinformatics, statistical genetics, and osteoporosis. He and his
graduate students won several Young Investigator Awards from various
professional societies. He is an associate editor of Genetica, an
international journal of genetics and evolution and is on the editorial
board of Life Science Research published in China. He is a reviewer
for nearly 30 scientific journals, including American Journal of
Human Genetics, Genome Research, Genetics, Journal of Bone and Mineral
Research, Evolution, Nuclear Acid Research, Pharmacogenomics, Bone,
Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism. He is an invited
author for review or perspective articles in Current Molecular Medicine,
Current Genomics, and Journal of Pharmacogenomics. Dr. Deng reviewed
grants for NIH, Natural Environment Research Council of United Kingdom,
National Science Foundation of USA, The Welcome Trust, United Kingdom,
National Science Foundation of China. Dr. Deng was bestowed an honorable
Cheng Kong Professorship by the Ministry of Education of China in
2001. He is the chairman of the Publication Committee of the International
Chinese Hard Tissue Society.
